Learner to full licence

Licensinsing Scheme requires new drivers to pass through three licensing stages before achieving a full drivers licence.

  1. Learners licence
  2. Provisional P1 licence
  3. Provisional P2 licence

Going for your L’s

  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Pass a Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) at the RMS registry.
  • Prove your identity
  • Pass an eye sight test

Going for your P’s

  • Be at least 17 years of age
  • Have held your learner licence for at least 12 months (if you are under 25 years old)
  • Have completed at least 120 hours driving practice (including 20 hours of night driving)
  • Pass a driving test

To get your provisional P licence you must:

  1. Have held a P1 for at least 12 months
  2. Pass the Hazard Perception Test (HPT)

To Get Full Drivers licence you must

  1. Have held your P2 for a minimum of 24 months
  2. Pass the Driver Qualification Test (DQT)
